Where will the sessions take place?

  • I work from a peaceful counselling room at The Therapy Space in the centre of Bath

  • I can also offer sessions via Zoom or on the phone in some circumstances.

When do sessions take place and for how long?

  • Appointments take place weekly at the same time each week.

  • Counselling sessions last for 60 mins.

  • My working days at Therapy Space are Wednesdays and Fridays at the moment but this can change so please do get in touch.

  • I hold sessions via Zoom on Mondays.

  • I work in term times so in most cases we would have breaks during school holidays.

  • We can work over shorter or longer periods of time, and this is something we would discuss at the beginning of our work together.

What do the sessions cost?

  • My standard rate is £45 per session

  • I am sometimes able to offer concessionary rates for young people from 18-25 depending on availability.

  • Payment can be made weekly by cash or contactless payment after the session. (or i send a payment link if there are any problems)

How do I start?

  • Finding a counsellor can feel quite daunting and confusing, and it is important that you find the right counsellor for you.

  • I can offer a 10/15 minute call as an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have or you can go ahead and arrange a first session and we can go from there.

  • If you would like to get in touch to arrange a phone call or to arrange a first session, the best way to contact me is via email.

Will we have a contract?

  • Prior to our first session, I will send you a counselling contract for you to look through and sign if you are happy. This will include information regarding cancellations and holidays, payment, time commitments, and confidentiality among other aspects of the counselling framework.

What happens in the first session?

  • Our first session will be an assessment session where I will ask more questions than usual as we explore what has brought you to counselling and I try to get a picture of your past and present experience and also your goals or wishes for counselling. In the assessment session I will write some notes but after the initial assessment session I will no longer take notes during our sessions together.

  • It will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions about counselling that you may have and also for us to go through the contract and the counselling framework.

What happens after the first session?

  • After the assessment session we can both reflect on how it felt working together and make a decision on whether we will continue to do so and whether you would like to do so on a short term basis or in a longer term more open ended way.

  • Occasionally it may be felt that I am not the right counsellor for you at this time and in which case I will be happy to signpost you to therapists or approaches which may be more suitable in terms of specialism, availability or experience.
